Look No Further: The Key to a Satisfying Life

goodnewsfeedBlog, WeeklyDevotionalLeave a Comment

It’s almost laughable as humans how we are consistently looking for things that will give us joy, happiness and comfort. We chase after dreams, jobs, newer cars, bigger houses, a different spouse, more money, thinking that these things will ultimately make our lives that much better. We think to ourselves “if I just had a little more” or “if I just had this or that, then I would be set, then I’d be happy, then my life would be comfortable.” How many of you will be honest with yourself right now and admit you have thought this? I absolutely have. We are completely wasting our time and efforts! Now having earthly possessions isn’t necessary wrong and it’s ok to be successful, but these things will never give us true joy, happiness or comfort. We may have a quick rush of feel good but then it turns into “what can I get next, one more thing and then I’ll be happy!” When you think about it, it really only brings us emptiness because it never truly satisfies our needs. Only being in the presence of the Lord God will give us true joy and comfort. He is the only one that will truly satisfy us. Let’s make being in His presence our focus and see how the Lord blesses our lives.

Reflect on these verses of God’s promises to us:

You will make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever. Psalm 16:11 (NASB)

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 (NASB)

Are you guilty of chasing the things of this earth for your fulfillment? Will you commit to being in God’s presence daily so that you will experience His joy, happiness and comfort? Start by setting aside 10-15 minutes a day alone with God and see how your life is blessed. Then, only naturally, you will want to spend more and more time with Him, which will bring you such a satisfying life.

Immerse yourself in His presence,

Mark
